Feeling creative but don't really know where to start? Here are twenty, short writing prompts to get you started! These can be used for short stories, or can even set you up for a book! These can be taken in any form and can be turned into any genre! That's the beauty of writing prompts!

1. I opened the door, and that's when I finally realized it was here the entire time...

2. It was a particularly hot 4th of July. The sun had just started to set, and we were setting up blankets to watch the show...

3. We pulled onto the yard and something just felt off. I asked him "Are we in the right place?"...

4. It was my first day of classes as a freshman in college, and when I walked into my first class I swear I've seen my professor somewhere...

5. "How many times do I have to say it?" he yelled...

6. It was 3 A.M. I realized as I tilted my alarm clock so I could read the big red numbers. What woke me up?...

7. "That'll be $4.18," said the barista. My mind just came into focus, and I realized I had no memory of the last three days...

8. I placed the earbuds into my ears and started walking...

9. We just parked outside the amusement park when he smiled at me and said, "everything will be okay."...

10. I was laying in bed and all of a sudden my entire room started violently shaking...

11. Finally. I finally got the exact thing I needed. The last piece to my puzzle. I stick the key into the door, and when I hear the click I reach to turn the knob...

12. Sparky was the German Shepard that I lost three years ago. I swear I just saw him with someone else...

13. I woke up laying flat on my back on the ground. All I could see were the amazingly bright stars above me...

14. The doctor walked into the room to give us the news...

15. "Stop!" I screamed. My dad slammed on his brakes and we quickly got out of the vehicle and approached the body...

16. "I do." She said. That's when I stood up and tried to leave before someone grabbed my arm...

17. I made my way down the basement steps to join my family...

18. "I've never really felt like myself until this very moment."...

19. I think this was the most excited I've ever been for anything. I couldn't believe that I was actually about to meet him...

20. "Another one?" I asked my mom. "What is that now, nine?"...
