9 Teen - A poem - AN adult perspective of a 19 year old finding their way

Updated on January 27, 2012

9 Teen

9 Teen

Searching for a place that hasn’t been found

Jump in if you dare, I’ll show you around

Ask me a question, you’ll get a blank stare

Uncomfortable yet? Oh, I’ll get you there

Crawl in my skin, I’ll show you some more

A word out of line, I’ll show you the door

No need for you or anyone else

I have plenty of tools to torture myself

Catch me right, I’ll give you some time

Catch me wrong, my anger will shine

See me shut down, don’t get in my face

Honor my head and give me some space

Crazy you wanted to get in my head

A complex maze as fine as a thread

Thoughts flying at the speed of sound

Jumbled and bouncing in my little town

I’ll mumble some words; you won’t hear

Nobody does, say “what” if you dare

I’ll give you a look. You’ll get no more

Uncomfortable yet? Ah, my favorite chore

You may ask why I treat you so cruel

Take no offense, just a unique tool

Bring you close. Live in my skin

Uncomfortable yet? Then your in.

A tortured soul, and artist, feel my torment

I care little of yours, no ill intent

Don’t waste a thought of who I might be

The truth of the matter, I’m evolving to me.
