A Ballad from the State of Chad

Updated on April 13, 2016

Small African country

also a namesake for addiction

foreign from western soil

a difference that deserves correction

What is this State of Chad

desert with a few tumbleweeds

a far distance to run

everyday working out different speeds

"High on this, high on that"

separate from the many, a lone state

of a bar or corner

hunger no substance can satiate

In this State of Chad

lie large fields of mangled anger

crystals dug from the tub

where memories of life still linger

to fight off the devil

lost within random neuron firings

to never revisit

with necessary rewirings
