A Beautiful Courthouse

Updated on December 22, 2013

It was a beautiful courthouse,

strong enough to weather any storm,

truly impressive in its classical form,

the bronze doors,

the varied Italian marbles,

the deep redwood floors,

so magically appealing,

as it compliments the gilded ceiling,

perfect to the picture,

and it was a work of great architecture,

as fine and glorious as any structure

ever built in the city,

and treasured,

if justice itself were measured

by the grandeur of its house,

then humanity would have little to fear,

an honest case could be tried there,

everything would be crystal clear,

as it should,

if well cut stone and hand-carved wood,

could guarantee a righteous vengeance

and liberty could make a true stand,

fight the injustice, the demand,

then it might be a place of sanctuary for man,

the courtroom complex exists,

so that generations of law officers

and lawyers could walk the halls

of justice as it calls,

feel their spirits soar,

all the hard, dirty work performed

at the city’s rotten core,

will no doubt be gracefully shaped,

packaged and taped,

into a clean and solemn case,

before entering the doors of that place,

where legal and illegal come face to face,

and the police could bring their best work,

to this, a final destination

wearing a look of utter resignation.

Beautifully expressed. I was recently called to Jury Duty and got a chance to see the new courthouse. It was magnificent. Even the room for jury selection was amazing. An impressive place "where legal and illegal come face to face".

To use your own words, you ROCK! If only the beautiful courthouse could ensure that liberty made a true stand.

I love it when you share something I haven't seen before. Thank you Frank.

      Voted all but funny.

I know of people that are years, decades even, overdue for at least a couple of trips to the courthouse, but they have yet to see that day. To quote Just Ask Susan "If only justice was served." Awesome hub.

      The halls of Justice.

As it should be be seen, in all its beauty and grandeur. As it is, not as we see it.

Beautifully captured and described by you Mt Frank.

      As I ask .

Why are things the way they are , instead of the way they are supposed to be.

No need ask why the courts , you had already beautifully captured ,that illusive street walker, so it's obvious what's next.

      Someone keeping up with you!lol

      Blessings..
