A Blue Sky In The Unforgiving Desert - A Poem By S

Miles of desert and blue sky

Stretch into infinity

Before the eye

And the sun blasts down from up high

It is unforgiving

So many a stretch to go with nary a kindness

As the desert drives me to near blindness

There seems to be no meaning behind this

Unforgiving

I trudge on in certain dred

Fearing the next day may find me dead

And I watch as my whole life unravels like a spool of thread

The memories bittersweet

And unforgiving

As I live and as I breathe

I am losing everything that is me

But I find some solace in the thought

That God will soon come carry me away

From all that is unforgiving.

The desert is an unforgiving place, but there can be beauty there, too, and when we come to the end of the journey we need to be sure that we have been forgiven so that we can share in the joy of reaching the waters of the oasis.
