A Chance for Memories

Don’t deprive us of the memories; I want to take a chance.

The years fly by relentlessly, don’t you want to dance?

I want to see your deep blue eyes, I’m sure they are the key.

My mesmerizing brown ones, gosh, I’m just being me.

The sound of your voice, falls new upon my ear,

I crave to hear it as we walk the ocean pier.

Your hand might reach out, my fingers to entwine.

Let me drink in your laughter, I’m sure I’d be inclined.

I know I have asked, so let it be food for thought,

No regrets will we have, from those memories we have sought.

Time marches on, I want to remember,

A walk on the beach, maybe in September?

Cast away your worries, let nature take it’s course.

It will all be so easy, like falling off a horse.

Life is full of chances, you never know what’s round the bend,

But you have to cast the door open and be more than just a friend.

So don’t deny us of those memories, sweet affection of my wishes,

Otherwise I’ll just have to go and wash those dirty dishes………..

A tender piece of writing here. Sort of shyly romantic, very likeable. And I love how the ending shifts from the romanticised to the mundane, a reminder of our simple lives. I'll be following you.

Even in love there seems to be a practical alternative or plan B, huh. Very nice verse with an easy rhythm! Thanks for sharing it. WB

My favorite line is the first, "don't deprive us of the memories".... But your wit at the end made me smile today.

    Thank you.

    Namaste.
