A Coat of Many Colours

By Tony DeLorger © 2103

Hidden in the folds

of a well fashioned garment,

made from the lies,

of so many a truth meant,

is the agenda of fools,

the planned obsolescent dreams,

the coming of age,

of the narcissist redeemed.

Purporting good fortune,

and the sweet play of God,

these simple parasitic,

devices of fraud,

from the shadows of the righteous,

they emerge into truth,

their words so emotive,

their intentions so moot.

For in reality these pariahs,

these multi-coloured spruiker s,

with silver-tongued verses,

these warm and fuzzy mercers,

take hold of a mindset,

and mould it to fit,

within realms of their shackles,

in their hands your money sits.

And no matter the argument,

their answers defined,

to be all you're looking for,

at least in your mind,

and so without further conversation or ado,

onward they forge, long after pursuit,

your empty pockets a testament to all of their ilk,

as they make appropriate, their skill so acute.

The end is when all gobsmacked,

you watch them walking away,

your dreams begin to crumble,

and your heart's all dismayed,

wondering what just happened,

in the blink of one eye,

the other one distracted,

too late to deny.

Penniless and confused,

all blinded by colours,

the flashing of tongues

and images of mother,

telling you to be wary,

of smooth-talking cons,

and you taking it as BS,

and now standing in the result.

The world is filled with shiny, sparkling gifts from strangers. But are they gifts?

Glad you liked it Rose. Yes, the world is filled with such people, unfortunately; one has to be wary. Take care.

      Wow, Tony,

I see you have been oh so busy publishing away! Trying to catch up a bit here. Yes, those-silver-tongued devils are convincing, and I see you have men in your imagery (great choice of imagery too), but watch out for those women too, for they are out there and so very dangerous, maybe even more so!

      Voted up +++ and sharing

      Have a great weekend,

      Faith Reaper
