A Comforting Letter to Myself

Updated on June 12, 2011

I wrote a letter to the scared little girl that was inside of me when I suffered abuse.

I just wanted to tell you that you don't have to hide anymore. I told on him. It's no longer a secret. He can't hurt you again. You are safe. You can come out now. I will protect you with my life. I will love you no matter what. It wasn't your fault. You were just a little girl. He had no right to violate you in that way.

Let me hold your hand and together we can take a walk so you can look around. I promise, you will see that all of the bad things have gone away. You can go and live freely without all of the shame and guilt. I have freed you. It's okay, you can trust me. I know the last time you trusted someone they hurt you. But, I will never hurt you.

You are me and I am you. You have evolved into a beautiful and powerful woman. Take a look in the mirror so you can see. We have survived.

Love Always,

This is a very moving hub but even more so because it is so powerful. You have done more for that little girl than anyone else ever could. Don't forget to visit her again!

If more people did what you have done here in writing this letter to your inner child the world would be a much happier place. You are very brave to write this but your courage will result in planting a seed in many peoples' minds to start caring for the child within. Thank you.
