A Fast Moving Storm

Updated on July 31, 2014

It's To Late I Can't Do Anything

It all started about a half hour ago

Earlier today my wife said it was going to rain

Thunderstorms coming

I didn't believe her

It is beautiful and sunny outside

The weatherman have been known to be wrong

This is one of those times

There were clouds in the sky

Big puffy light blue ones

There wasn't a dark cloud to be seen

I can see way over the mountain tops

I had plans of cutting the grass and weeding the yard

Plenty of time after I eat lunch

I did a few chores inside the house first

Laundry in and washing the dishes

Before you know it

It was time to eat lunch

I have the whole day to do whatever I want

To prove my wife wrong

I even watered the grass and the garden

It was hot yesterday and the plants were dying for some water

I could wait till it rains but if it doesn't then I have to water everything later

I wanted to do it now

Matter of fact I will even wash my car

Everything drying up fast because everything is so dry

Then I was in my living room when I heard a noise like thunder

No it couldn't be

Then a second Boom

My cat jumped then I soon followed

I could hear the light sound of rain hitting the trees in the yard

Then It picked up and came down hard

Of course I didn't think of closing the door or the windows

As the rain poured in

I have to laugh

As I clean up the puddle on the window sills and floor

It was my own fault

I guess if I was an Indian

I would be a bad one at that

I wish we could do some of the most difficult things in our life just as fast

Then we could move on to other things we enjoy more

Taking our time and cherishing every moment

Another day off on the wrong foot

Maybe that's why we are given two feet

I really enjoyed this. I love doing things on the spur of the moment. Especially in the summertime when there is a sudden downpour I love to run out into the rain. Hope you're having a great weekend.

annart There are so many surprises waiting for us in just one day. By the end of the year I am overwhelmed by the staggering number. Think of how many times in a lifetime ? What a great pleasure it is to see your comments and your good advice. Have a beautiful night.

Love the last two lines! You're right we should do things more quickly, not just when it's urgent. We must waste a lot of time procrastinating.

      Great poem. Ann
