A Fatherless Soul

Updated on May 24, 2012

Wandering about the narrow paths of vast darkness

I seek what lies beneath the sheets of hell

Mourning silently in the expanse of silence

I cry for relief to the thorns, on me they dwell

Trying to move out of an unending black hole

I keep dying, I am a fatherless soul

No hand to hold, no shadow that would mold

No one to look up to

To discuss the hardships life will unfold

I walk alone, I win alone, I lose alone

When I dare to dream, I find my dreams alone

I try to end my misery every moment

I keep falling in it, I am a fatherless soul

I see a face stirred in some mist

It reaches out for me through the darkness

Loneliness overweighs me, I try to resist

He speaks to me, but I cannot hear

Fighting hard to overcome

I lose to the dark, I lose in fear

I see the face very often, in fear, in despair

My mind, black as coal, I am a fatherless soul

I live each day with no zeal no zest

I die every moment with pain in my chest

Hoping to see the light some day

Wishing to hear from the face I may

I wait with my loneliness all along

I wish to find him, to whom I belong

Till then, I lie in my own blood, forlorn

I cry for redemption, I howl

I feel nothing, I am a fatherless soul

Hi Maria! You are right... all of us seek a parental figure. God is the universal parent!

Some of us who suffer early in life.. connect to this patch of souls wo only bear pain

Thank you for your words of truth and wisdom!

Voted up and awesome. So many fatherless souls seeking to find whom they belong too. I really felt your words. Reminded me of a movie where a girl was desperate to find her father and all she had was a picture of herself as a child and beside her in the picture you can only see a man's legs and boots. So she wore rubber boots like him all the time and thought she would know him when and if she found him. Wonderful poem.

What a touching, well-composed poem! Voted up and awesome!

This could be the cry of my own son (and daughter), having the most self-centered father on this planet, not able to show any interest in his off-spring (and fellowman) or true love of any kind, and not even able to realize how wrong he is by NOT believing that fatherhood is at least a duty to be proudly and gratefully performed.

Without the emotional support of a father (and not to talk about a mother) people are without solid anchors, totally vulnerable in the storms of life.

In HubPages we can be fathers, mothers, brothers and sisters for each other. We can fill to a certain extend the empty spaces in each other.

Rahul, you've labeled me as your grandmother and my ego is big enough to take the punch... lol! (I would, of course, preferred the 'girlfriend-label'... lol!) Now being your 'granny', let me tell you that I see a lot of potential in you. YOU ARE able to distinguish between good, best and excellent, and really able to reach excellence on all levels of your life.

      Grandmotherly hugs to you!

I can feel the pain twisting my heart.

      Beautifully done.

Rahul - This one touches me not because I am fatherless and not because my son does not have a father. It is because I have a father as does my son and it gives me hope in my role in these relationships that bind us and guide us. Thank you for this. It inspires me to be there for my children.

Thanks for sharing this great write rahul. Isolation and feeling alienated or displaced makes for a dark existence which you have expressed well here. It is human nature and a basic survival need to seek out and connect with a parental figure. This translates into the emergence of popular religion with a paternal God figure who promises to love and protect us. You have successfully expressed the despair felt by those who feel they are fatherless souls. Well done.
