A Father's Love - Poem for my Dad

I wrote this poem tonight (4/18/12) for my Dad, whose birthday is April 25th. He'll be 74 and has been my dad since he married my mom in 1964. I'm fortunate to have two living fathers. One who gave me his genes and one who helped form my soul. I have a relationship with both and love both dearly. But it's Dad who raised me and helped me become who I am today. Y'all are reading this poem before he. I wrote it tonight and am sending it in his birthday card.

I don't need to go into history, but my Dad is an awesome man! I hope you enjoy my heartfelt sentiment....

A Father’s Love

A Father’s Love

Is like

No other.

It differs from

That of

A sister,

Brother

Or even

A

Mother.

He’s there through

Success

Confusion

Doubt

And Uncertainty.

His love is so

Strong

It overcomes

All adversity.

He’s always proud

And stands

Strong by your side.

His belief in you

Fuels

Your forward Stride.

The love of a Father

For his Daughter

Is so very

Strong

It’s impossible

For her to falter

For

Very long.

My Dad is my

Strength;

He’s always

Been by my side.

It’s because of

Him

I’m now a Woman

Full of Pride.

Although this

Is written

For your special day,

To you, Dad,

I love what you’ve

Given me

And I don’t mean things……

It’s because of you

My Heart

Always Sings.

I need you to know, Dad

It’s because of who you are,
