"A Free Bird in Flight" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"A Free Bird in Flight"

In moments of despair

I sprout wings

Spread far and wide

Floating under the sky

Headed towards a distant shore

Where pain's permeating paws can reach me no more

Soaring with the sun as day gives way to night

Surviving darkness tis I a free bird in flight

Fluttering high above the land

Far away from my cage

Escaping my foul existence...

Touched down

Feathers ruffled

Dreading my next departure

Hi Christine, here land represents pain, the flight of course represents escape, but the bird wishes not to be a bird, the fragility of the bird demands the flight, the escape, perhaps our bird wishes to be a bear and fight, but is not equipped with the tools, so the wings have to be used reluctantly at times.

      Eric,

Quote: Ah, "that I could have wings like a dove and fly away and be at rest."

Very real things going on here...

      "..Fluttering high above the land...

The tendency is to not want to move through the difficulty, but that truly is where we grow to be able in essence to enjoy the flight "far away from the cage."

I embrace it...keep poeming my friend.

Thanks Jodah and Dana, escaping ourselves is a necessity for survival, at least I believe it to be.

Sometimes I would think..." How blissful and carefree the life of a bird seems to be." I enjoyed the poem, thanks for sharing.

It would be good to be able to unfurl wings and fly away in moments of despair Eric. We just need to be careful where we land. Voted up.
