"A Fury" by Eric Wayne Flynn

Updated on January 4, 2016
Source

And it comes in a fury

A wild wind

A spirit inside us all

Molecules of pride

Struggling with control

Doubtful of lifestyle

Unholy thy trail

The new path of the "chosen"

Those who don't bow, deciphering who is greater than thee

The cyclonic tick and tock, coming up around the bend

Forever is even fleeting

It is motion that is now

A fury outside, a fury within

Spinning round and around, round and around again

Unholy thy trial

Judgement; shalt thee never be free

For we owe

A right of birth is our fury

The burning up of flesh

Vengeance, devoured in fire

Feel it ablaze, temptation manipulate my soul and only dream of me

On a distant shore, with a feeble island boy waving on me with a palm

Only think of me, for I am self, and I am thee

To be alike, better yet to blend, in a fury

A sexual cyclone, breaking love asunder, with a justifiable act of indulgence

And it is there we mesh and tear at each other

Convulsing with pain and joy, trying to decipher which is which

And it is a fury outside, a fury within

Spinning round and around, as it starts all over again

Hi Annasmom, our inner turmoil is the greatest beast that mankind must handle. If everyone were able to curb the insatiable appetite of self, maybe the storm would reside. Thank you for the visit.

Hi Manatita, I had never read that particular Shakespeare line; I absolutely loved it though, when I read it afterwards. Thanks for the visit.

HI Jodah, thank you for the visit. I have used similar lines in other poems but apparently those certain words stood out to not only you, but others as well. Always appreciated.

A fury outside and a fury within sometimes I wonder which is worst. Happy New Year my friend!

A real fury, a passing shadow like Shakespeare said. Still, the storm or Tornado passes and the calm surfaces. Let us hope. Great Poem! Much Love, Bro.
