"A Gift" by Eric Wayne Flynn

Updated on March 22, 2015

"A Gift"

I know who I am

This world dare to tell me otherwise

So I accept it

A joke

A foible in this fable

The folly before us all

Addition through subtraction

Withdrawn

Within

Without

The flawed laws of our fathers equating to a gross inheritance

Original guilt for the sins of the past

A pot of poison boiling over

Running out and onto the flesh

Melting the mask

Exposing

A composition in bone

Hollow

Vacant

Art unto the gallery

Within

Without

Soul, stripped away

Victimized by this Great War

The battle rages on

Soldiers trapped in this fictitious narrative

Truth sleeps alone in a bed full of lies; a warm blanket covering

It never wonders

For it knows

Remain hidden

Remain a secret

This weapon

A gift

Do we learn from the sins of the past or just keep making the same mistakes over and over? The truth and answers are hiding in there somewhere. Good work Eric, voted up.

The flawed laws of our fathers equating to a gross inheritance; sin. That three letter word packed with many consequences and always lies at our door. Very deep and profound. Voted up.
