A Good Morning: A Poem
A Good Morning: A Poem
Happy rays of sunlight
Warms my cool skin
And we’ve passed through another night
And feelings of content spread from within
The world comes alive
The scents pass through the open glass
A smell that makes my soul thrive
Is that of fresh cut grass.
The oscillating breeze has brought
The fragrance of jasmine on its current
Inspiring me with a casual thought
This thought quickly becomes a torrent.
I stretched and yawned as I woke
And got out of bed without an ache
Sweet nothings to her ear I spoke
And kissed her gently awake.
Her hand to my face with a reach
A loving caress upon my cheek
Her beauty still steals my breath and speech
But somehow I find my voice and speak
I speak a speech of nothing but coo
Her kiss took away my words from the start
And she opened her eyes of the deepest blue
And lost me in the love of my heart.
From here nothing else matters to me
I can get lost in the smell of her skin
But it’s so hard for me to see
How her love I was able to win.
But I stop this line of thought
Before it goes too far
To me her love is happiness she brought
And I thank my lucky star.
As I know I always should
Things like this creep up without warning
And when it does it’s always good
For this was a good morning.
