A Good Workout In The Yard

Updated on June 4, 2015

Smell The Fresh Air

There is always something to do

Don't just stand there

Grab a shovel or a rake

I'll get the wheel barrel

First let's walk around and see if any branches fell

We had some heavy winds last night

Blowing the trees every which way

As I piled the twigs and small branches high in the wheel barrel

Oh no

Last fall I collected all the acorns and put them in the corner of the yard

Now there are 70 or more little Oak trees growing

We have to dig them up or the roots will grow deep

They will be impossible to remove

Then there was a wild flower that I planted

It is a vine that is very aggressive and over powers all the other plants

We have to dig that up too

Let's get busy

Before long the front yard is taking shape

In the backyard the grubs ate a third of the yard

We will put down some Grub Ex

First we have to dig up the dead grass

It comes up like carpet

Section after section

It is like straw

The grubs ate the roots of the grass and will eat the whole lawn

We have to stop them

Trying to get as much as we can done

Then there are some beautiful flowers our neighbor is giving us

She is thinning out her flower beds

After going over and digging up more flowers

Now we have to dig new holes to put these in the ground

Making great progress

Now we have to water all the plants and the grass

I feel my body ache

How about you ?

Soon it will be dark

Thanks for all your help

Enough for one day

I can't wait to get in a soothing hot shower

Take a few Alieve

Recooperate for the rest of the night

Wondering what we can do tomorrow

Soon enough we will begin again

In the time we have

Making the yard as beautiful as possible

Gardening and outside work never ends, does it? But that's the beauty of it; it's satisfying. I've just done a load of planting, re-potting and re-positioning in my little garden; lots of pots and a few small borders, the rest is patio paviours. It does give me a few aches though and that's when I call it a day!

I can relate to the various activities of yard work, the tiredness that goes with it, and the need for refreshing. It's all good when we see the fruits of our labor. Good read!
