A HOT HUMID SUMMER DAY

Updated on September 8, 2012

A hot humid summer day,

Blistering is the sun rays,

Welcome up a gentle breeze,

Cooling what it wants to please,

Ninety degrees in the shade,

Drink a glass of lemon aid.

This is a water wheel my uncle has erected at the corner of his yard.

Think about the cold in winter,

It may bring a little jitter,

To the bodies wringing wet,

Covered up with sticky sweat,

Don’t despair the season’s hour,

At least we haven’t lost the power.

Riding in an open car,

Leaving windows left ajar,

Turning up the air a might,

Get the temperature just right.

Picnics are Family time.

So let the thunder roar on by,

Lightening from a distant sky,

Maybe relief has come at last;

We saw it happen in the past.

It hasn’t been that long ago,

Cussing was about the snow.

Thanks, aytab. I hadn't realized how well I described living near the east coast.

This poem reminded me of all the reasons I now live in Southern California, I ran away from all the moisture in the air but, at the same made me homesick. I enjoyed this very much. Brought back a lot of great childhood memories.
