A Haiku - Being Single As An Adult

I can have it all;

all that life gives, and not share;

or share all life gives.

Never alone, not now.

but filling life full somehow.

True to God and me.

Make memories count.

New memories every day.

Good for my old age.

I am not alone.

There are millions just like me.

Friends waiting to meet.

New day, new choices and detours....

If you are single now, you know. You know each day is new and open to what comes with it. Interacting or living to yourself; the choices each day are yours to make. Detours are likely, come what may.

Some are content with, even prefer, the single life.

Others yearn to be teamed with a partner....the "right kind" of course.

Some have been teamed before with "good" and "not so great" coloring how they view moving forward.

As adult singles, most will choose satisfying paths for today, and each new day. Many will fill their uncommitted time with hobbies, service, study, family, and friends....especially new friends as life allows.

In a society where the old ways often seem at odds with the new ways, single life has seen many changes.

The future will be determined by what each adult single does with the changes and today's detours.

      Exactly. I have plenty of things in my day to fill my life, and everything works out so well for me.

      It's not how you spend your time it's the quality and if you spend quality time you can even have a good time alone. I am spoiled in that I have my hubby with me most of the time however when I am alone I look to do things which will make me satisfied, content and happy.

      Ericdierker - You might also relate now, as the October 15th automatic extension date for filing 2013 closes in.

      Great Haiku, we are only as alone as we choose to be. My wife is a tax preparer and during that time of year I can relate to this.

      Besides tax breaks, there actually are some advantages to being married and to raising a family. And despite claims otherwise, the family (and even single adults have them) is the foundation of our society and has been since its inception.

      When you celebrate your partnership, may any you both raised be close at hand....even pay for the steaks!

      I think it's lovely. Haiku is so hard to write. Anyway, after I became single, I longed for a mate for 10 years. Then just as I had become content with the single life, along came my husband. Isn't that so typical! We will celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary on the 30th. There are no world-class restaurants here anymore, so we are trying to decide which steakhouse is the lesser of evils.
