A Haiku - Discouragement

Updated on February 22, 2013

So you expected all of life to be perfect?

Few have lives measured in days, so in a normal life a bad day is one day of many. It may be that you will only remember a few of them over a lifetime. If so, why dwell on any now?

Discouragement now

But shake it off. Try to smile.

Funny how days come!

Leading a charmed life?

Hold your head high, Watch and see.

Happy steps lead on.

We cannot guide steps

Past every stumble and fall.

Up again! And on!

No life of bitter,

No life only sweet alone.

Master what comes now.

Mastering today,

Makes each day somehow better---

Smoothing rough edges.

Life's really rough days

Are the sandpaper of life,

Smoothing our finish.

Just a little to melancholy harsh for me, but hey that means it touched me.

Enjoyed your haiku. We must never be discouraged but must always do what we can to make things better.

All your comments have been appreciated. I have made several changes to the original in order to try to make the individual Haiku verses stand better on their own while blending together. Your comments are always appreciated.

      Mastering today,

      Makes each day somehow better---

      Smoothing rough edges.

This verse goes well with my general approach to life which is One Day at a Time. Thanks for sharing this very encouraging and helpful Haiku. Sharing on my fb page dedicated to freelance writers. http://www.facebook.com/cam8510?ref=hl
