A Haiku - Jeopardy

Updated on February 21, 2015

Will she, or won't she?

Breaking the ice has purpose.
Breaking the ice has purpose. | Source

Is it the right time yet?

How much risk is there?

What can be lost at this time?

Should I try or not?

She knows me by name.

She will know me more deeply,

As I really am.

Nothing ventured yet.

But if I care, I will try.

And help her know me.

How much of her, too?

Is all I see her own mask?

What else should I know?

I know she is sweet.

I’ve never seen her gossip.

I think she will care.

All else is useless.

Mask or no mask, I will try,

Learn and then move on.

With her, or without,

How different that than now?

Prizes worth the risk.

I could be turned down.

But this can start our way.

“May I take you out?”

“Out where?” you asked me.

“Supper, a show, or a walk.”

Your smile…my answer.

I think dating and dates change as we enter each new stage of life. For example pre-high school, high school, college, early career, mid-career, late career, retirement (I was tempted to enter deathbed crushes on the nurse!) The potential risks change, the experience increases, and what we have to offer and relate to change. What do you think?

I think the London Olympics would do just fine.

Gypsy Rose Lee: Now I need to cultivate that lovely accent of his and his marvelous diction. Perhaps a trip to the London Olympics, or a week in Jamaica?

Most of the first dates I ever had were awkward to say the least and I think I remember just two which were enjoyable only because we had been close friends for awhile before. That wonderful picture of handsome you reminds me of Hollywood actor David Niven.

Amy Becherer: Awww, shucks. I'm reminding myself that "Handsome is, as handsome does!"

How beautiful, Perspycacious. Guts and glory...it takes great courage to make things happen, but without, although some might argue that there is safety in not trying, nothing is ever gained without trying. You are very talented and handsome, too!

Skarlet: Thanks for stopping by and commenting and voting. It must have been a hung chad, as nothing showed up from you or from Debbie. We need to check those computers. ;0)

It can be extremely awkward, and make you wish you had stayed home, or they can make you feel like you are walking on a cloud.

      Very nice poem
