A Haiku - Turmoil and SuperPACs

Updated on March 9, 2015

Picture this same scene with wave runners, water skiers, speedboats, and a cluster of other fishing boats...then an ocean liner leaving them in its wake.

Turmoil has its opposite in tranquility.

Motion, change, disarray, all are present in turmoil.

Will SuperPacs* change?

Not by their elected ones.

Turmoil may subside.

The aftermath stays.

Big Money is the winner.

Slander has its price.

Others did it too.

But they didn't win, these did;

Corrupted system.

Emboldened PACs stay.

Lessons learned for the next time.

"Keep the coffers full!"

The word gets around.

"House and Senate seats for sale!"

"High bidders will win!"

*Super Political Action Committees were a major factor in Election 2012 after being ruled legal by America's Supreme Court Justices. Only a new law by those who benefited could eliminate this new power derived from their benefactors. That seems far from likely.

Gypsy Rose Lee: "Give a man a little power, and he soon begins to use it unrighteously." It seems as if I have heard that somewhere before?

Powerful message. Money never solved anything and it leads to corruption etc.

Too bad that we can't just eliminate money...

Sueswan: Will anyone really know how much the SuperPACs drowned out the voices of the common American? Not only did they outspend the common man, they made it seem pointless to even donate the smaller contributions the average man, woman, and family might otherwise have donated to their favorite candidate's campaign. Thus it came down to a contest between large, special interests , with winner take all. That is hardly democracy in action. Shame on you justices of the Supreme Court! In addition to the letter of the law, there is a deeper concept: the spirit of the law.
