A Haiku - Would You Rather....

Updated on February 26, 2015

Choose wisely, my son. The choice is yours.

Life is made of choices.
Life is made of choices. | Source

Resting mostly....

[Romance delayed, but not forgotten. Can you picture two "school sweethearts" meeting and visiting as the surviving elders of their classmates, and the reminiscences they might share so many years later, if Luck hadn't been so fickle?]

Would you rather kiss,

Shake hands, or hug, or just smile?

The choice is yours now.

It's been so long since,

That "once upon a time" then.

Start where we left off?

We are older now.

Glacier snow upon our peaks,

Sand dunes crowd our eyes.

Once we were younger.

Oh, blissful days gone astray.

Magic almost lost.

Who found who, me, you?

Memory's good for back then.

Not so good for now.

Imagine those days,

Not the same as sitting here.

School days were better.

Most are gone, just us.

You have changed; more to you now.

Past, now, both are here.

We came so close then.

Might have married, but for luck.

Luck's saying: "Sorry!"

That is definitely a beautiful poem. It makes me wish I was young again.

flashmakeit: That would make two "not so young" claims you have, if your HP photo is old too! I am glad you enjoyed the poem and that it brought back some of those great memories of when you were younger.

I'm not usually a fan of haiku, but I absolutely loved this. Good work.

I like that you put together a collection of Haikus. A beautiful read that I vote up and will share.

My HP photo is 8 months old if that mean anything?

flashmakeit: All it means is that you aren't old. You are vibrant and alive, and I hope you stay that way...even after you finally get old!

A., U., CW, and GRL: All of you are young at heart, too. Thanks for the Share, the Up, the Beautiful, and the Awesome. That's enough to encourage me to write another one (not that I could be discouraged from doing so.) I will remember to write another one, if next time you all remember to cast your votes along with your words. Deal?

Timing seems to be everything in love and life. You shared a beautiful way of looking back.

It seems to me that "good old days" have been the inspiration for more than a few songs of remembrance.

Can you remember someone terrific you "almost" married, as in this "haiku story"?
