A Husband And Wife

Updated on July 2, 2015

Through The Years

A bond that so strong

Super glue looks mild

We have seen it all

The tough times that make others crumble

We have grown leaps and bounds

Learning to adapt and change

Pulling together instead of pulling apart

Depending on each other for never ending support

Compromising when we disagree

Knowing giving in and getting half is way better than losing everything

Later realizing we didn't miss anything

Marriage isn't for everyone

Some people love being single

Dating someone new

For me I will take one loving wife

I can't ask for a better life

Only fourteen years married

A small number to those who have three times under their belt

If this is a sign of what is to come

I am bad dancing in the street

Laughing with the biggest grin

When someone sees me and says

You can't dance

I know and isn't it great

Why is great ?

My wife will always love me

No matter how bad I dance

She knows what I am good at

She knows what I absolutely stink at

Going forward I have my faults and she has hers

Our greatest talents will out shine them any day

We have found a few secrets to a happy marriage

My wife is making herself look beautiful

She did her hair

By that I mean washed it and blowed dried it

Doing her legs

By that I mean putting lotion on them

If she doesn't they dry out and bother her

I have to get ready

That means tearing myself away from writing and reading

Going out to eat for supper before nine o'clock

As a husband and wife special treat

We are not smokers or drinkers

So we are probably boring to others

We keep all the windows open

Trying to avoid putting the air conditioners in the windows

Loving good old fresh air

We look forward to spending our days and nights together

When work doesn't get in the way

We talk about everything

Leaving gossip and bad news out

We let other people live their own lives

Good or bad

They make their decision

Just like we have made ours

To death do us part

Hopefully it won't be anytime soon

Living each day our own way

Makes every day special

Especially on those hot summer nights

We manage to stay cool

DREAM ON, you have delivered a product which is great before its arrival with potential ever increasing. So true, husband and wife get married to stay married to enhance their life which otherwise wouldn't exist as complete as their mutual compliments. Increasing in wisdom and love is daily practice accepting each other as our own soul , looking forward new experiences as we mature. It's better with experience, but blessing isn't measured by length of years together. It always is there everyday, now. We are learning from your poem as determination to want and to will. Well written advise for everyone .

      Voted up, useful, interesting.

Lex123 We are able to finish each other's sentences and are on the same page. Even when we haven't had the best of days we know how to make each other smile. That beauty lasts all day and glows in the dark at night. Thank you for reading and sharing. Brakel2 I don't know why so many people are quick on giving up and giving in. I am committed to making our love stronger and stronger by keeping the momentum going. Sometimes it takes hard work other times it is a breeze. I will do anything for another cool breeze. I appreciate and love your comments. May you both have a great day.

Hi Dream On - What a wonderful poem, filled with ways to make a marriage work. Why don't we try harder to make better harmony? Your poem gives us reasons to compromise and overlook little things. Let us all take a vow to live by the words of this hub, and we can lift ourselves to the sky. Sharing, Blessings, Audrey
