A Leaf Day
A Beautiful Day For Walking
Outside in the sunlight
Dancing through the leaves
Like a rabbit running through the grass
Light on your feet and ready to make any fast turns
Rustling back and forth
Look over there I can hear the noise again
The leaves cover the ground like a floral wall paper
Bright colors of yellow and red with a touch of brown
Scattered in a wild fashion
Striking in appearance yet left airy and peaceful
What a sheer magical place to be
Under huge great Oak trees that have limbs the size of human bodies
Pine trees that drop needles and pine cones everywhere
I see a Maple and a Spruce
I am surrounded on all sides
Not in danger or scared for my life
Comforted by their presence and their enormous strength
With roots so deep
I can't see them even though under my feet
I walk from side to side and sway in the wind
Trees do it without falling in hundred mile winds
It is easy to get side tracked and forget why I came out here in the first place
Such a heavenly place not up in the sky
Right here on earth right below our ankles
How can we over look such magnificence ?
Every day we walk by it
Shame on us for not appreciating nature
In the city we cover it up with dark black tar
Other people think we can get away with it we use white cement
Digging up fields only to lay down sod and chemically treated grass
A few small bushes planted where an old Elm stood strong
For five generations and now it is gone
I also cringe my teeth
For it was so easy to forget
The natural world
In a little while it gets dark
I walk across fifty feet of gravel
Gasping at what we all have done
Nature is alive and well
Even though you forget about all the animals and insects
Who call it home
If someone took away your family home
Demolished it and said go find yourself a new place to live
How would you feel ?
As I walk away and pray
To see the world in a different light
One we get to enjoy but never own

It is good to cherish the beauty and magic of nature. Might one day be hard to find.
Yes, we should cherish our natural areas and open spaces. Since I was a child I've loved kicking through the autumn leaves, for the noise and the swirl it creates. My children and grandchildren are the same.
You brought back some memories but you also transmit an important message here. Lovely.
Nature has such beauty in all seasons and one has to just appreciate their beautiful environment or surroundings as I do.
