A Poem About Self Acceptance

Updated on February 7, 2013

The Acceptance of Me

Today I am going to be kind at heart,
like I would to a friend right from the start.

I will listen to what you have to say,
and never judge for thinking that way.

I will forgive you when an oversight is made,
for the power of compassion should not be delayed.

I will give you strength as much as I can,
but won't think your weak if you need a helping hand.

I will honor your mind, body, and soul,
and accept who you are as a whole.

It's a workshop titled "From Tolerance to Acceptance: The Role of Children's Literature" I will be presenting at the American Montessori Society Conference. Thank you! BTW: love this poem (obviously)!

Love this! I am giving a presentation next month in San Fran and am wondering if I could use this? If so, how shall I reference you?

      Thanks!

Vocalcoach, Glad you enjoyed it! One day I realized how much easier it is to have kind words to a friend versus myself. I am still working on it. :)

How lovely and timely this is! A great poem to read to ourselves every single day...and I really like the photo of the woman hugging herself. I have a hub about that. I stop and hug myself often and it always feels good and reminds me to love the inner child. Thank you for a most uplifting hub. Voted up. And thanks for following me. :)vocalcoach

Think that's probably true of many more of us than we think--hope so. I know I agree! Outta here, but I've got bookmarked and checking you out!

I am glad it was a comfort to you. At least for me, sometimes I am more supportive to others than to myself. So, this is just a reminder for me. :)
