A Lonely Spirit

Updated on October 2, 2015

A Lonely Spirit

Under the street lamp,

the shadows kept creeping,

the night air was damp,

and a lonely spirit kept speaking,

how each time he spoke,

he seemed to arise out of

a state of contemplation,

the fog around him would look like smoke,

but he showed no frustration,

and his actions merely speculation,

the moon's light was lifting,

and it looked like he was drifting,

without a care in mid-air,

yet he never moved,

and he seemed at all times alert,

nothing felt right or seemed to fit,

the light was so bright,

moths were powerfully attracted by it,

some flickered while others just sat,

his existence was satanic,

but more than that,

the moths remained attracted,

and in its simplicity, distracted,

you could hear the darkness call,

and when the night began to fall,

the lonely spirit would vanish,

and no one understood it at all.

We are trained to chase a dream and a purpose after another thru our lives. I suppose it would be frustrating for those that stay behind stuck in an endless pursuit of purpose after having your life cut short. Do you think that is what happens? Hmm.
