A Lumberjack Limerick

What is a woodpile good for?

A Lumberjack Limerick

While cutting a tree

it was quite plain to see,

from the way it was standing

it soon would be landing

on an "m" that's followed by "e."

There's labor enough to keep us fit in any season!

I once was fit,

but now I sit,

and sit, and sit,

so that now my middle,

has become a riddle,

as to where the middle is.

You'd think I would know,

that whatever the show,

there isn't much fame.

to a lap at the rear,

where so sadly I fear.

it now has an assumed name.

Pear-shaped is best reserved for pears.

The Milkmaid

There once was a milkmaid

whose salary was paid,

with cheese, whole milk, and butter.

She preferred the shade,

much more than the glade,

while emptying each cow's udder.

Lovely to read something light-hearted after the last few days' events in Europe. Thanks for the 'lift' and the laugh.

annart - Steel yourself, Ann. There will be many more days like that. The jihadis have found the most economical way to gain worldwide media attention, and cause their enemies the maximum expense, while dividing the west from those who suffer even more with far less attention (such as those suffering from Boko Haram.)

You're absolutely right. There is far worse in many places and far worse to come.
