A Nut in a Rut

Updated on April 1, 2011

A Nut in a Rut

Dale was an intense young fellow
angry right down to his core...
Yes, he was a pressure cooker
who boiled and then boiled some more.

What set him apart from the masses
and made this observer aware
was his inordinate silence...
and his consistently inhospitable glare.

He would come and go quite stealthily
appeared and vanished unheard...
made this observer quite wary
much like some raptorial bird.

Now, Dale was a smouldering fire
a volatile, unstable bloke
with a warped sense of entitlement
who could and would not take a joke.

It was always a practice in wisdom
to tread lightly around this young man
for he was a gun-toting redneck,
a short-fused, gun-toting pecan!

Thank you, Lorna! Words were chosen carefully for this give the correct inflections and insight without writing a volume! The poem and the person make me wary! These are the individuals that go postal!

I love the way you come up with these quirky ideas. That's one thing of course, but then it has to followed through in verse and this works wonderfully. Now give that bloke a cuddle and a good scrubbing.
