Introduction

2017 was an extraordinary year for many reasons. The most significant event of course was the election and inauguration of President Trump. However, there were other events just as significant and will have long lasting effects on all of us. That is the definition of a paradigm shift.

Bsckground

The Trump effect is real. You can see it in the incredible run up of the DOW. The economy is the biggest story and jobs are coming back, wages are up, and the confidence level is up. All this was a surprise because the conventional wisdom by some economists was that the stock market will tank...

The other signiicant event is the sexual harrassment revelations which started with Harvey Weinstein but expanded to include many celebrities in Hollywood and the media and even some boardrooms.

The last one is the DACA situation with the immigration crisis. Our governent legislatures are seeking a permanent solution for these “dreamers”. The democrats are choosing this one issue as their last stand. They are shutting down our government by refusing to extend the debt limit.

The Paradigm Shift

So, what was it about 2017 that lead to this paradigm shift in our culture? It is hard to pin down. However, I have a theory which may be true or not, never the less I will present it and you can judge.

My theory is that all this came about as a reaction to the surprise winning by Trump In the 2016 election.

Trump made immigration the corner stone of his campaign. It was a problem that was brewing for decades. Under both GW Bush and Barack Obama, the problem just got worse. It seems no elected officials want to address this head on. The American people was getting frustrated and wanted an outsider. That is where Trump came into the picture. He tapped into this anger and frustration on the part of the average citizen.

Trump beat all the odds and won the GOP primary beating out 16 other seasoned candidates. He then challenged Hillary Clinton in the Genral election where all experts and polls showed that he had no chance of winning. This was happening with the unending attacks on him from both the left and the right and the elites in Washington and the main street media.

Having won the general election, the shock was that a person without any previous political experience can win the top job and be the Commander in Chief. This was unprecedented in our history.

Dow Hits 26000

Trump Effect

How does this shift translate into the glowing economic outlook, the taking down of powerful men in sexual misconduct, and the dreamers getting their day in court?

The Trump Derangement Syndrome, among many people is a real condition. It created this environment where people have lost their common sense. The hatred clouded their thinking and judgement. The primary example of this is Brian Ross of ABC news. He was willing to jeopardize his job and his reputation to falsely report something against Trump.

It is my contention that in trying to take down Trump, they went after powerful people who have behaved badly against women over the years. The thinking is that once this is exposed, people would be convinced that Trump needs to go for some of his past actions and words. However, it backfired and started a roller coaster that took down Charlie Rose, Matt Lauer, and Senator Al Franken among numerous other celebrities and politicians and company CEO...

The dreamers is by all estimate only 800,000 people. Yet, the Democrats have chosen to side with them against the wishes of the American people. They are willing to shut down our government in an attempt to blackmail the Congress to pass a DACA bill.

Summary

Our country is changing under Trump. There is a split among the people where half of them support Trump’s agenda and half thinks he should be impeached. What a diatomic opposite situation. The economy is the main story. The boom in the market is unprecedented. Most people will reap the benefit of a rising economy that will lead to more and better paying jobs and lower taxes. The wind is behind our back.

The shift in thinking about sexual harassment of women in the work place is a good thing. It is long time in the making. It is ironic that a President Trump bought about this change.

Addressing the immigration issue is way over due. Our country needed this discussion about what to do with current illegal immigrants and about future immigration. Lets hope cooler heads prevail and we can reach a solution.

Senator Schumer

The Shut Down of Government

The Democrats have taken the road of no return. By shutting down the government, they have demonstrated who they really are, what they stand for, and who are their constituents. Trump is right. From now on, every death comitted by illegals or dreamers will have blood stains on them. The 2018 mid term election is coming soon.

The American voters have 70% approval of the economy. In this climate, the Democrats have very little to run on. What will they claim? We shut down the government for DACA... Not a winning argument in my opinion.

I heard today that 10,000 sealed indictments were awaiting action, and that 44,000 army personnel were on hold ready to deliver and arrest those named.... 600 of them are military officers.

I hope you are right. The elites in DC are not going to go quietly. Power and money corrupts...even the best of them.

A good assessment, and the liberals are desperate to try and stop Trump draining the swamp, mostly because they are neck deep in that swamp.

Successive Presidents have allowed the morality and integrity of Americans and especially their political system to sink into depravity with no consequences.

Trump has decided to stop that decline in order to try and avoid the 'fall' that will follow if nothing is done about it.

When jail becomes a serious possibility, witnesses get murdered, and the guilty will go to extreme lengths to avoid jail.

I believe they will fail, and will end up jailed, and if Trump achieves that, then America will have bought some time to clean up it's act and get back on track.

The age when the government was run like a country club, by an elite 'untouchable' elite minority, is coming to an end.
