A Poem: A Little Poem
Strolling along together....
Just me again....an' just for fun.
I'll write a little poem
To see who's out there readin'
Just a little poem
With advice you might be heedin'.
'twon't take me long to do
A verse or two at most
Sorta 23 skiddoo!
No book by Emily Post.
More like to do, or not,
A simple line or two;
But I remember... I forgot
What you was s'posed to do!
'twas simple, plain it's true,
If I could just recall.
'twarn't complicated, stern,
No rules and such at all.
No sermon 'bout "You'll burn!"
Or Adam, Eve, the Fall.
Just plain an' simple talkin,
No fancy frills an' such.
Like you an' me was walkin'
An' gettin' back in touch.
I wish I could remember
With no further fret nor fuss,
But 'til the dyin' ember
Can't recall what's wrong with us.
So take it from these lips,
A sure thing I suppose,
Was: "not to break your hips";
And, "mend up all your clothes."
