A Poem- Paradise

Updated on June 2, 2012

The path through paradise.

Find who you are to find paradise.

So this must be paradise?

It is a bitter day in paradise,

As the mood penetrates through skin

There is a desperation lurking in the silence,

That makes itself known within the screaming of hollow winds.

I walked alone through the streets of paradise,

Wondering if truth even still exists?

A paralyzing fear takes over,

That this is the best that there is.

Touched by the illusions of paradise,

As the real world settles in.

It isn’t much like paradise,

When you are just trying to survive the life you live.

A smoke of clouds moves over me.

Tears drop from my eyes.

Each are washed away by the purity,

As it rains in paradise.

The rains of paradise

leave me shivering and torn.

I lose my hope on the streets of paradise,

I can't see me anymore.

I walked frustrated and afraid,

Unable to recall if I there is a way home.

Before my eyes; a rainbow appears in the sky,

Paradise reminds me I am never all alone.

mckbirdks- thanks for the comment and compliments. I suppose you are correct, paradise is far better than hell, specially if you are going to be lost.

iamaudraleigh-thank you hun. I know that life will be fine and that being lost only allows us to find ourselves more so than we ever thought possible... and because of this, I am okay :)

I guess if you are going to be lost, the streets of paradise is the place to be. Now the rain has washed away the tears. You can see clearly now. The pictures are great.

Lakepoet- first off, I like the screen name, I too live at a lake. Secondly, thanks for giving your perspective on the meaning of the poem, or what it means to you. This is what I love about poetry, it is very much personal regardless of if you are the writer or the reader.

I think the poem conveys a sense of guilt about how we do all live in paradise, comparatively speaking, to those in the world who are less fortunate. Yet even so, our lives, at times, lack hope and bring us nothing but despair. Your poem is beautifully written. Voted up
