A Poem about Jealousy

Updated on August 16, 2011

Your eyes glare

without a sound.

I see your envy

wrapped inside.

Everyone knows

your feelings

before your snide remarks

and hurtful lies.

Your variable nature

hides and waits

for the time to strike

down into the gutter

of baseless rumor

and bullying ways.

Success of others

burrows under your skin,

steals the happiness

you long to find.

Imprisoned in a cage of steel

you push others away

with a judging eye

and spiteful wit.

Worrying about everyone else

keeps you in a place of darkness

unable to change and grow,

your freedom an elusive dream.

A well-versed poem on one of most unfavorable emotions! This engaging poem shows more depth about jealousy which connects well with readers, including me. You are not only a good writer but also a good poet as well! Well-done!

This could have been written about my ex-wife (third of six)...except that her glares were anything but silent.

      Voted Up and Stuff.
