A Poet's Why

"Many people hear voices when no-one is there. Some of them are called mad and are shut up on rooms where they stare at the walls all day. Others are called writers and they do pretty much the same thing."

~ Meg Chittenden

Am I not

Alive with wanting

Hardly

Dead but nearly haunting

Blank slate

Hindered thoughts

Tis my fate

A mind that rots

Wasted words

My voice does sigh

Waiting

Wondering

A Poet's why.

Well, what can I say. A thirsty traveler who stopped to drink and left remembering where he drank. When I return, I will stop again and drink from here. There is just something in your water.

How refreshing to read a poet's words which do not cloy or show contrivance, but simply flow! I must read more of your obviously fascinating writings and adventurous life!

    Bob,

Great insight ... that would have worked perfectly, but alas ... it wasn't my thought.

    Cheers

I would have liked, "My voice a sigh." But there is no right way, only this way and that way.

    Another thoughtful and beseeching poem.

Hardly dead but nearly haunting! Brilliant. Was attracted to this by the quote, and am glad I was.

I agree with you but unfortunately Hubpages doesn't ... lol

Anyway, I like to my poetry simple. The impact is immediate, and one's mind does not get boggled down with flourishing words that take away from the heart of the matter.

Thanks so much for your input.

Love this! That first stanza was so dark and ominous. I love short sweet and to the point poetry. Minimal - less is more, more or less.
