A Poor Woman

Updated on June 16, 2013

A Poor Woman

A Poor Woman

She was a poor woman

Had little riches

Cursed the rich bitches

They held their heads so high

Sometimes she wanted them to die

All she had was paper and pen

Wrote stories and wondered when

She would win a prize

Or capture a rich reader’s eyes

They passed by her on the street

Where she sat at a café each day to eat

They served her day old bread and leftover meat

The woman survived forty years

Survived and cast away many leers

A computer hand me down was given to her

She felt rich even with the one wobbly key

Words poured out more freely

Websites promised her pay

But she remains poor to this day

You see being rich isn’t always money in hand

It’s sharing work and making a stand

Be it fiction or reality

Words capture the reader and make them see

The woman behind the pen dressed in rags

Holds more riches than a king with many flags

Thanks Frank glad it kicked some creativity in, but I don't think there is much space for that you're very good as is. Many thanks!

This is a morality tale with a twist and a spin to it and told in your very own inimitable style - this one is a personal favorite of mine as told by you because it reminds me somewhat of my life and my writing so it drew me in on a personal note.

I will link and share this beautiful piece for writers everywhere on my FB page for all to see and read.

Also I will link and share Woman in Red.

Oh dear I fear, by the end of counting I will not have room in my wallet to fit all my riches. This lady of yours is a great teacher of value. Just by her life. Thanks.

Thanks Eric, it kind of stemmed from Hubpages what I thought it was and what it really is. :) Thanks for reading!
