A Reason and a Rhyme
A Domino Effect
As dominoes are spread upon a table top, all just so,
Each the enabler of the other, and all stacked in a row.
Is so, of every creature that lives upon this fine earth,
The smallest to the greatest, is a treasure in its worth.
As one piece topples into the next, and in turn reflected,
This shows us just how much we each are so connected.
The smallest amoeba to swim about in oceans of deep,
Climbing the proverbial ladder, as we all do drift asleep.
The irony of it all, not perplexing, nor is it very discrete,
We each depend upon the next domino for what we eat.
When one or more of our kin is dashed, to fall out of turn,
Those who are to follow shall suffer, and in this we learn.
The preciousness of all life in this world is beyond compare,
Destroying just one may create for others a life of despair.
The meeting of the needs of those few greedy ones, today,
May change this planet to dust, and for us all to wither away.
The oceans and all that is within, wronged and lost in shame,
The cutting and burning of trees, and with only so few to blame.
The air to breathe and pure water to quench all creature's thirst,
Polluted by unruly men, the essence of every life surely cursed.
As the last living domino does fall, concluding the end of this game,
A mystery may be solved, so sadly revealed, why human kind came.
A highly evolved and intelligent breed, to destroy every living seed,
Leaving no one to play in this mysterious way, nor having any need.
