A Relationship Defined

Updated on April 13, 2016

What is this relationship we defined

to quietly agree to cohabit,

to live in the world on our own grit,

the dotted line has been finally signed.

So you sleep in the other room now

and we both pass when taking care of kids

as if each and every smile we have rids

us of our deep pain, as if we know how.

After ten years I still have no idea,

to express how much love I have for you,

to tell you I love your mind and body,

all of you, the you in the space I see,

I pray everyday to recreate new,

I find myself falling inside of me.

Thank you all for you kind words. I have been taking a look at my sonnet collection and it tells an interesting story. Some slightly more confessional than others. Jamie

I love this too! And yes, we all who have a child can relate. I love the way you use everyday occurrences to spotlight reality. Thank you....

I love the line "I find myself falling inside of me." What a perfect description this is. I believe we can all relate. You've done it again Jamie...great food for thought in your new poetry. I'll be sharing and thank you.

      Enjoy your day.
