A Rock

Updated on May 22, 2013

A rock
suits my palm nicely,
possessing still the spirit of David,
touching the cosmos in its vastness,
tumbling the wall ,
setting Jersalem free..

      Cat,

I am glad you liked it. Remember that David killed Goliath by a stone and by that stone, Palestinians will defeat the oppressor and tear down the wall(the apartheid Wall)Look at Berlin Wall, what happened to it it ? it couldn't stand long .I may sound a dreamer but I believe that justice will be restored no matter how long the oppression will exist .

As human,we should all take a stand for humanity. Children are not terrorists in ...women are not terrorists in Gaza...I hope people would stop taking a false judgement about Arabs in general, and blame the freedom fighters. Arabs are people like everyone else; they have rights, and these rights are being violated. Israel is breaking every pact made. Let's all shout in one voice the oppression being made, if not for Arabs and Palestians, then for the innocent children that are harmless, all they want to do is live life like other children their age. Isn't that a human right? to live free and equally like everyone else? Why should mosques, churches and schools and universities be bombed and perished? what for ?Torah doesn't teach that and those who are in Jerusalem holding guns and driving tanks are not Neturei karta ( guardians of Jerusalem).

      I am sorry I said much :)

      James,

I was already moved and impressed by your hub, but your comments to dreamseeker were equally impressive. It's a tragedy... how do the pieces of wall fit into a palm?

      Beautiful James!

      Laila,

Thanks for taking time to read this short poem. What is going on in Syria reminds me of the story of people of the Ditch which mentioned in the QURAN.The story is about a king who ordered ditches to be dug, with flames kindles in them. According to Ibn Katheer’s tafseer: “…the king said, “Whoever abandons his religion, let him go, and whoever does not, throw him into the fire.” They were struggling and scuffling in the fire, until a woman and her baby whom she was breast feeding came and it was as if she was being somewhat hesitant of falling into the fire, so her baby said to her, “Be patient mother! For verily, you are following the truth!”) Muslim also recorded this Hadith at the end of the Sahih.

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to the families who have lost their loved ones. May the souls of the victims rest in peace. There is nothing worse than a war. May Allah bring peace and serenity to Syria and its people. My heart aches and breaks for the Syrian people.

      Isaac,

Thanks for stopping by and commented.I d like here to add some important information that maybe you dont know. Palestine is mentioned almost 300 times in Torah and Israelis are foreigners to that land.To make sure of that please read Genesis 21:34

      @Palestine existed even before Abraham.

Wow, what a sad and mighty read. Terribly sad. After reading all of this in the above comments. It makes me feel even worse I never knew it was that bad. I knew of the struggle with Isreal. I just never knew it escalated. I guess all I can do is pray for there safe haven;. Great read. voted up.

@dreamseeker2.Thanks for the comment and vote.As we know Israel has a heavily armed state-of-the-art military and the Palestinians only have rocks and a few old guns. Shouldn't our sympathies be with the Palestinians who only want their freedom from oppression and the opportunity for self-rule.Look at the Wall around Palestinian areas, claiming it's for security but it amounts to apartheid for the Palestinian people. They built a wall around Gaza and turned it into a jail ,the biggest prison in the world,Something bitter than Concentration Camps. We know how devastating the situation in Gaza is. They still occupy parts of Syria, and are now building a wall on occupied land; they want to keep this land and keep themselves as occupiers. To keep building walls is not a solution. It needs to make peace with the region. In Syria and the Arab world, there are six million Palestinian refugees because of Israel. They have to solve the problem of the refugees, to give them the right to return to their homeland that has been taken from them. Israel cannot build its future at the expense of the people of the region and building walls to protect themselves… walls are not going to protect the Israelis. People have rights, and they will keep claiming those rights.

A rock can do a lot of damage, that's for sure. But, I like your poem James. You can put a lot of images and thoughts into its meaning. Voted it up and interesting. Reminds me oddly of Sunday school though...; )
