A Rush To The Grave

Updated on November 5, 2014

Hope Tried ( Poem 2 )

The night was nearly done,

the morning would come,

and all the ghosts were shouting,

the spirits drowning in tears,

his emotions spent,

he clapped his hands over his ears,

his body bent,

his head bowed down,

it was the beginning of the end that day,

there were no words to say,

softly, he cried,

as he failed to pray,

but hope tried,

as the shadows gathered in his eyes,

and desperation poured down like rain,

his mouth twisting with pain,

but even with the morning light,

everything remained the same.

A Rush To The Grave ( Poem one )

He sighed,

trying to be civilized,

his hand dropped to his leg,

and he shook his head,

prayers were whispered,

but nothing was said,

he wanted to be brave,

as he watched the casket

being lowered into the grave,

then an old woman shouted,

shoving at the earth with her feet,

kicking dirt on the casket

trying to cover it like a sheet,

then she fell to the ground,

quietly, she made no sound,

and her hands would lay

on her breast just as if she were asleep,

the others glaring,

and the priest with no emotions

was just staring,

as if there was a soul to save,

then suddenly, all at once,

there was a rush to the grave.
