A Soldier's Song: A Poem Dedicated to the Memory of Fallen Heroes

Updated on September 4, 2017

Don’t cry for me I am still here.

Wrapped up in a quiet breeze.

I can feel your emptiness with eternal peace.

My heroism has not left.

You can see it in your mind.

Better yet feel it in your chest

Don’t cry for me,

My memory can paint your days

with subtle joy.

The love of country, family and

freedom makes me your pride and joy.

Sweet mother, I’m with you always.

Buried in love and light.

God has taken me from the fight.

A soldier at rest,

who leaves behind no regrets.

Wipe away your tears now.

Don’t cry for me. For I am still alive.

In your autumn's rain.

Your summer’s heat. And winter sleet.

Look up to sky to catch my halo, so beautiful,

so magically bright.

I am still here.

The song that I have sung has left no reasons

to ask why?

I beg of you now,

don’t cry for me.

I… Did… Not….
