A Spray of Darkness

Updated on September 3, 2014

A Spray of Darkness

Books on the shelf,

and on the overhead,

far to the right was a twin bed,

stains on the sheets,

dark red,

the closet door was open a crack,

there were no picture frames,

or even a single knick-knack,

or hangings on the walls,

and from a spray of darkness,

a voice calls,

she was nude

and resting on her side,

the wound was crude,

and the cuts were wide,

then the voice would shout,

as she bled out,

her face was suffused,

so bloated by decomposition,

that her spirt remained confused,

her legs drawn up,

her hands behind her and tightly bound,

the whisper in the air was the only sound,

a bed spread was thrown over her hips,

her mouth open,

and what stuck together slightly was her lips,

murder was the only story told,

and her death was careless and cold.

It was incredible,

but then he wasn’t really sure,

it was maddening,

and he thought it was pure,

it was like a disease,

with a cure,

a tremor ran through his veins

defying the sweat which had broken out

from every pore,

his reflection was perfection,

and he wanted to see more,

black sharp eyes stared,

as if waiting to attack,

he glared,

as the image in the mirror stared back,

his pulse ran in such a rapid pace,

as the color drained from his face,

it seemed normal,

but he was out of place,

there was a mild cough,

and even a milder choke,

as the room was covered in charcoal smoke,

he slowly turned,

as the shadows burned,

then, all was quiet,

his eyes glistening,

waiting, listening,

nothing was there,

only his wild imagination,

that filled the air.

Great stuff here, Frank! Hauntingly dark with some nice depth.
