A Thing or Two!

By: Wayne Brown

You can hide in the shadows

Pretend that I don’t see

You can walk ever so softly

Hoping I won’t hear

But I know a thing or two

Love come from deep in the heart

Infectiously growing, spreading

Consuming those all entwined

You may not believe it

But I know a thing or two

The way you care shows in your eyes

It flows from your slightest touch

Peaceful, warm, tender

You think I can’t care?

But I know a thing or two

A simple kiss can work miracles

Dry the tears, calm all your hurt

Sensual, damp, lingering

You think it silly?

But I know a thing or two

Love ones cross over never here again

Moving into other shapes and forms

Invisible yet present

You might not see it

But I know a thing or two

Happiness is simply a state of mind

A wish we can believe in

Here yet fleeting

You might not find it

But I know a thing or two

The answer is not always found in books

Sometimes it comes from prayer

God’s answer, unspoken

You might not feel it

But I know a thing or two

Looking back, life is ever so short

Melting slowly like butter in a skillet

Just 3000 Saturday nights, give or take

You might not see the end; I can

But I know a thing or two

@Truckstop Sally...just finished it and commented. Life is like buttah and it melts in the skillet a little too fast sometimes! WB

You had me at the picture -- skillet with butter . . . I use it all the time, but pretend I don't. My diners (kiddos) are very healthy, but naïve too! If it taste good, they don't often question. Ha!

You know, you are right -- Looking back, life is ever so short . . .

We really must take advantage of all that is offered. Hope you will read my latest Katy Winslow and agree.

Laura...you've been reading my mind! And now ladies, a reading by Wayne Brown. Wow! If you could pull that off and it started to spread from city to city as "the thing to do", then my picture would surely be on milk cartons soon! WB

Haha! I am remiss and I will attempt to redeem myself, however! I could stay here day and night and not be able to laud the praises of all you've written over the past couple of weeks! Perhaps one of my little social soirees should include an evening of "Readings - By Wayne Brown" that would kill two birds with one proverbial stone, LOL!

Wayne Brown, like I always say, "there's just no substitute for real butter" and you, my friend are it. Your words are sweet and smooth as homemade butter...now pass me a biscuit, cause I know a thing or two, as well, lol! A lovely poem, just lovely. ~ Laura
