A Tribute to the Night

Updated on August 12, 2012

Inky profoundness

the Gods' blanket

giving balance

giving comfort

place for nature

taking a breath

gaining respite from the dominance

of the Gods' children's

steady lash

Here sees the bright orb

not in self is she bathed

but in reflected splendor she is clothed

seeing and being seen in the day

for those beady enough not see her peak

but unveiled and resplendent

now we see her

greet the creatures in the black

the playthings

and puppeteers of the shadows

predators and prey

dancing steadily

out of sight of the snoring masses

Calling up from the depths

the living and the seemingly inert

though as to inertia

and the difference midst this charcoal time

things people think dumb

come to awairness

being away from notice.

even the rocks spring eyes

not saying much

but witnessing

shifting ever so slightly

when no one is looking

causing consternation

to the incautious

Siting midst the stones

both the living

and markers for the sleeping

a quill in hand

or pounding at electronic aids

I greet this time

with special awe

Being a creature of the night myself

I pledge myself to my Mother

and do His will in Her sight

ultimately to the betterment

of those who wish to be better

and as the stones

consternation to the rest.

A long time, but well met

in this night a friendship perhaps

      given new room to breath

      a few words written here

      well worth their ink

A moment in time, a pure thought, a breath ...

And we connect with something more than us, a beautiful poem indeed
