A Trunk That Thrusts Itself Back to the Road
Dedicated to my younger sibling, Mr. Isaac Ogundare’s M.Sc. Academic Success.
1. A person asks me,
What did you go,
Go to the wilderness
To look for?
2. I went ‘to wilderness
To see a trunk
Rare and intelligent one
Amongst garden of trunks
3. I could not readily
Find ‘tis trunk at
Once, but diligent and
Clear look reveals it
4. Soon it was taken
Off the garden and
Cast far into the
Remotest part of wild’ness
5. Seasons pass’d by on
It where it was
Thrown to by the
Strange hand tha’ threw ’t
6. I cried and cried
How would this trunk
Get back to the
Garden among its peers?
7. Neither does anyone hear
My cries nor see
The tear droplets at
The edges of my eyes
8. After the end of
Nine seasons, times and
Chances happen to it
Gets back on road
9. Finally arrive at the
Garden of trunks ‘twas
Welcomed back into their
Camp in-a colorful way
