A Way of Life

Updated on March 8, 2015

I’m not a court jester or a social chairman
I breathe and never worry about religion
I don’t make life hard for those around me
I don’t tell them what to do or ask for money
I obey the law and pay all my taxes
I try to smile and not grind any axes
I want love but not for the cost of freedom
I feel passion but won’t live in your kingdom
I don’t think about money after five o’clock
I don’t care about market trends or the latest stock
I never go to the latest fashion show in town
I don’t want to polish a pretty girl’s crown
I tell my son to think beyond his own emotions
I know he is surrounded by misguided notions
I pray in the name of an unworthy point of view
I ask for more time on this earth as my days are few
I look in the mirror and retreat further from desire
I make no commitments and have all that I require
I exist in your midst as a father and nothing more
I welcome you but understand if you close the door
I will speak and walk and will play no earthly game
I live my life free and hope you can do the same

Thank you Minnetonka Twin - I appreciate it... I don't know how good a person I am; I know how I wish to be... it's not easy...

Well said Suburban Poet and it's a great reflection of what a good person you are. I hit many buttons and voted up.
