A Wishing Well Dream
I tossed a coin into the old wishing well,
Then I made such a wish, I could not tell.
In my dreams, when that wish came true,
Soared above the earth, and away I flew.
Passed by the moon into deepest space,
Beyond all the planets, as I then did race.
The Universe opened, like another place,
A beginning of all, I was soon to embrace.
Then before my eyes, a light did appear,
A golden orb glowing, a shining sphere.
Sending thoughts, it was to lead the way,
As it darted and danced, did seem to play.
My mind's own eye followed right behind,
Soon new stars and planets, mine to find.
One in particular of the earth, it did remind.
On this blue planet, I was led there in kind.
I saw azure oceans, green expanses of land,
Was a copy of my planet, I didn't understand.
As I lightly passed over an old familiar scene,
There was my own house, all seemed serene.
When I glanced in the window, saw a surprise,
There in my own bed, my likeness, did apprise.
What had happened, at first, I was so perplexed,
Seeing one's self there is not what one expects.
Just then I heard the old red rooster to crow,
This had to be my own home, this I did know.
As I wiped the sleepiness out from my eyes,
My dream had now vanished as in a disguise.
Another boring day seeming to go slowly by,
Couldn't wait till nighttime, new dreams to try.
When was said and done, sure had been fun,
Now as I eagerly awaited a setting of the sun.
