Did the Egg Lay the Chicken? - My Answer to Jodah's Writer’s Challenge

Updated on November 21, 2016

Jodah/John Hansen's Challenge

He challenged his peers to write a short story or poem, using a random sentence. Here is my answer to John's challenge.

Where my sentence came from?

The sentence I chose is the Title of one of Johah's hubs.

But HP said this makes my hub duplicated.

And took it down

But my Poem, every word is MINE

So my title to my poem will be changed

To something a little more mundane

I have deleted John's rules

Now must I also delete his name?

Did the Egg Lay the Chicken?

How

could the egg come first?

When the chicken could not be laid

Except by the big ole rooster

That is how the egg was made

To

lay a fertile egg

The chicken must be laid

Then she can lay a rooster in an egg

So other hens he can lay

Make

an egg! Its rooster’s play

As he lays as many hens as he can lay

He rules the Roost from the day

His first Hen he laid

The

egg will crack open

to display what the hen has laid

Unless it ends up in a dish

Or on a plate or tray

World's

best source of protein

Is the egg they say!

Best if you eat them Anyway

OR!

Best

Way to figure out

You breakfast for the day

Should you eat them Raw

OR!

Jodah's Way

Whipped up nice and fluffy

Served on toast

To make a grand display

Eggs

did not come first

No matter what they say

They are a phenomenon

That only hens can lay

Au fait, thank you for the comments and for sharing on Awesome HubPages. I agree with you the whole election should be overturned and the rightful owner should take her rightful place in the White House.

Hope everything is well with you. Just spent an hour out in the pouring rain to find out where the pouring rain was pouring into the kitchen and Chipper went with me so he could play in the rain.

      Blessings my dear friend

I don't know about the chicken, but I think Trump laid an egg when he dictated that response for Little Donny regarding the meeting with Russians that Old Trump said he knew nothing about. He's already obstructed justice in so many ways it's hard to keep up. I really don't want him impeached unless they can take out Pence and Ryan too.

Going to share this one on Awesome HubPages. Hope all is well at your house. Take care . . .

Yes John, we do need more humor in the things we say and do. I am so glad you decided to keep your poem about scrambled eggs and not have HP niche it in two. The poem is what made it U-NEE-Q (my word).

      Blessings dear friend.

Paula, thank you, I am glad this made you laugh. Au fait and I use to work together in a snake pit (not literally) and to keep from going crazy or worse, silliness like this is what we talked about most nights when we were not snowed under with business, someone in the group would come up with a play on words and it would go from there, you would have enjoyed the conversations we had.

      I really appreciate you.

Blessings and Hugs my dear friend.

Au fait, thanks for the revisit, I loved writing this and if Jodah had not written a poem with his recipe and without his challenge, I would not have written this piece.

I hope you are enjoying the cooler weather from yesterday.

      Shyron.....This is GREAT!

Hmmmm...Seems to me Roosters are typical men

Crowing & seeking to lay the next hen.

No dinner, no movie, just "Let''s have some fun!"

Mama hen does all the work, Daddy Rooster's job is done

Next time you scramble some eggs to eat

Thank Mama cause Daddy's another dead beat!!

I like silly nonsense poems.....Yours is a winner!

My goodness, all that bawdiness had me blushing. I should think the chicken (a rooster no doubt) crossed the road to visit the hen. You can indeed have eggs with no rooster. Roosters are only useful to escort the hens around the yard, assuming you're talking free-range. All our chickens were free range spoiled chickens when I was growing up on a farm, and they didn't appreciate their good fortune.

Very entertaining and fun. Voted up, FI, and sharing.

Ruby, thank you for the comment. I love the video also, and I am happy this made you smile. Why did the chicken cross the road? I have heard that it was to get to the other side lol, but maybe she knew that there was more scratch on the other side. Our chickens crossed the road all the time, the barn was on one side of the road and the hen-house on the other and they like to roam.

Chickens are very intelligent. My brother had a pet rooster and the rooster's reason for crossing the road was to follow my brother when he crossed the road to go to the barn.

Bill, thank you for the comment, I really appreciate you. Yes I am aware that hens can and do lay unfertilized eggs, that fact did not fit in the poem. It would not keep the lineage going, at least not for very long.

LOL Shauna, the unfertilized eggs are the one Jodah scrambled. Yes I grew up on a farm and I know about fertile eggs. But without the rooster's the chicken population would dwindle and become extinct, somehow that did not fit into the poem. Do you know how to tell if an egg has been fertilized (LOL)?

Thank you Shauna for the comment, I do appreciate you.
