A baby girl, a book and grandma
A day in Grandma's life
Grandma's baby girl
She came to visit, that warm summer day
Came to see grandma, wanted to play
We went for a walk, strolling hand in hand
Round the back yard, pretending we’re walking in sand
We both love the beach, wishing we were there
But it’s too far away, for this day that we share
So we walk through the garden, admiring the roses
Sharing the beauty of the poppy as it closes
The evening shadows are marking the end of day
So we watch as the colors of the sunset fades away
Her favorite book awaits on the chair
She climbs up on my lap
As a funny story we will share
Time passes quickly, it’s time for mom to appear
To take her home to her family so dear
And grandma will wait by the phone each day
Praying her darling baby will come back soon to play
The years pass so quickly! One day they are a squirming, crying tiny baby, next day it seems-a grown up. Spend those precious moments in between to make memories between you and the child. We never know what they may remember of those days when they came to visit.
My family was together for Christmas and the subject of dried cranberries came up. My grandson who is now very near thirty years young said, "Grandma, I learned to love those cranberries when I was little. You always had some sitting out for a snack and I think of you when ever I grab a handful!"
It is so nice to hear from someone of an impression we made on them at some time in their live!
So don't hurry through life-stop and smell the roses, with one of the "little people" who love you. They will remember.
