A day at the zoo...

Updated on October 4, 2009

Hooray! today we are going to the Zoo! Here in San Francisco, by the ocean and I am so, very excited! Mommy and daddy are taking us there, because we may not get to go, again very soon, as mommy is gonna have another baby: And she is almost ready!

We took the ferry over the water , we love the ferry ride, it is such a big boat, and we can walk all around on it, and, even has a restaurant where we can get something to eat! and then we got on a cable car to go to the Zoo.The cable car is fun too...we have to run to catch it and jump on really quick, it doesn't stop, so daddy helps me and my sister, it goes very slow and is on a track in the middle of the street where the cars go.

First thing we want is some cotton candy and some popcorn and a drink. We did have some lunch before we left home, but it just is so fun to walk around with our goodies so we can tease the animals..sshhh..I know that isn't nice..but, oh well, we do it anyways.

We were surprised to see our cousins and Aunt and Uncle here too, so it is gonna be way more fun. I guess mommy wanted us to be surprised and we are..yippeee!!

First place we like to go to see is the live bears they have in a cave like place, with a real pond for them to swim in, because right now they have 3 babies and they are so cute, feels like you could just cuddle with them, like the stuffed bears we have at home.

It is feeding time right now in the wild lions place, so we are all headed to that building, and, there are a lot of people crowded in here. It is kinda hot and exciting at the same time. We are small so we get to be right in front. It is safe though, and the lions are very hungry and also excited as the man that feeds them carries their food to them. You should hear how loud the lions roar is, we had to hold our hands over our ears.

All of a sudden, there is this awful smell in the building and my mommy hits my dad on the shoulder, cause I think he let a phoo phoo, but then I see other mommies looking funny at other daddies. Everyone is holding their noses now, and mommy wants to get out of there, because she feels sick to her tummy. Daddy says it wasn't him, it was the Lions that made that awful smell...they phoo phoo'd !!!

The sun is shining and so we go to the park area where they have swings and slides and mommy can start to feel better. My sister and I and our two cousins really are having a lot of fun running around and swinging. We skip around and chase each other till we get tired and need something to drink.

The next stop is our favorite one, because we have been here before, and it is where all the monkeys live. They are so cute and all have names. I feel sorry for them because they are kept in these cages and they always reach out to us. We can feed them because they have peanuts here just for them. My cousins are taller so they always beat us and feed them first and even get to touch them and feel their little feet.

My little sister went first, because she is smaller and put her peanuts up for the monkeys. And, then, she screamed so loud it scared them and me, but the one monkey she was feeding had taken her middle finger and was biting it, and wouldn't let go! Mommy and daddy were sitting on a bench in the fresh air, so mommy would feel ok, as were my Aunt and Uncle.

I saw one of the zoo keepers walking down the pathway, and ran to him, and told him what happened and he quickly ran to my sister, by then my mommy, daddy,  Aunt and Uncle had heard her screaming and were on their way to her too. The zoo man was able to stop the monkey from hurting her anymore, but her finger was all full of blood, and we were scared to death.

She had to go to the first aid station so they could look at it and clean it, and they put some medicine on it and a big bandage. They said I was very brave, and it was a good thing I was her watching her, and also that I ran to the zoo keeper and told him. I think the monkey thought her little fingers were the peanuts...
They gave us free passes for the next visit and also we all got to have a double scoop ice cream cone.

To this day she still has a scar on her finger and we never did go back there again, well not to the monkey place...bad memories were there. So remember to be careful around animals at the zoo, I think maybe they don't like to be in cages....
