America is on the path to recovery; we hear it every day

We are climbing out of the hole; that’s what Obama say

The stimulus money was a great idea; a savior for us all

We’re headed for good times, the best we can recall

Never mind unemployment reaching toward double digits

Never mind on-going legislation mostly proposed by idiots

There’s reform going on in every circle, cranny, and nook

We’re changing America and we’re throwing away the book

Illegal aliens cross the border and drug trafficking we abhor

The President says there’s no way; we cannot close the door

Not with money, fences, or weapons; not men in uniform

The only way he says is through comprehensive reform

The President says we have no future; must pass Cap & Trade

It is the right thing to do for the pollution that we have made

And the moratorium will stand for the offshore drilling rights

By the time he’s done energy taxes will be driven out of sight

The feds lay claim to all the problems as public property

There’s not room for a solution that comes from you or me

Tax dollars must be expended or the problems will not erase

So you just plan on higher taxes raised right in your face

Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi will carry the President’s desire

It will remain that way until the taxpayers make them all retire

Then we might get our country back with blood, toil and sweat

But by the time the voting is through, we’ll all be mired in debt

Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, and ACORN suck money from our land

They’ll take and take and take from the taxpayer, any way they can

The liberals will never shut off the flow as they use it to buy votes

The theft leaves us taxpayers upstream with paddles but no boats

Send Congress and the President a long overdue little statement

It’s time to curb this waste, time for some public abatement

Americans are fed up; tired of being treated as blocks of cement

It’s time to get rid of Obama and this socialist malcontent

Obama is spreading misinformation trying to regain the vote

All he can’t blame on Bush,  he’ll have Biden attempt to float

Never mind numbers, facts; don’t get lost in all that misery

Just focus on the fact this is the summer of recovery

Once you’ve closed your eyes and stuck you head into the sand

It seems all is good and tranquil in this Native American land

Then you can go on with a happy life, no new worry or frustration

Just blindly go along as we become just one more socialist nation

@tony0724...Amen to that Tony. Most former presidents would relish the idea of curing American apathy. Unfortunately it does not always spell success for them. For this country, it will possibly go down as one of the greater reemergences of a people I believe and I certainly hope. America deserves better than we are getting from the thieves who currently serve us. We need to go for it! WB

Wayne I have been saying for years that Apathy was Americas biggest problem. More people know the finalist on " American Idol " and don't even know the name of the congressman in their district. However I will say this now Obama has one reason and one reason only why he is a great President , he seems to have cured the apathy malady that had beset us. The silent majority has decided to be silent no more. And it's about time. We can thank him for that !

@50 Caliber....Thanks for the great comments Dusty. You speak from a wealth of experience and have a great perspective on the economics of this country. It is not that difficult to understand but damn it is sure is easy for someone to screw up when given the office. Whatever happen to the policy of just leave a motor that is running well alone? That's the problem most of the time, these government tinkers cannot keep their hands off the throttle or their foot off the brakes. They have to mess with it because they have been give the power to do that by the people. Surely Forrest Gumps' mama was right when she said, "stupid is as stupid does". Thanks for the feedback and the thumbs up! WB

Wayne, good job, voted up, you got it right and strait to the nut cuttin'. I've said it a thousand times this year and here it is again: "November 2010 election cycle is the litmus test of America, if we fail to at least balance power on capital hill, we will be doomed". It weighs heavy on my mind even though I've reached a place where most of it fails to affect me directly. Even if the economy crashed and my dollars became worthless, I could live out the rest of my days from the land. Yet not for me I spread the word, hoping and praying America will, like me vote NO in November to stop this train we are riding on toward the bridge-less ravine of the One World Government that will turn coming generations to live in 3rd world style. Our Republic capitalism awards the rich, and the direction we are headed will spread the poverty that it brings upon it's back, to one and all. If not for the rich like Howard Hughes, one of several who provided me a job that payed my way, makes me realize, as all should, that they provide many jobs. It was from the rich that I borrowed the money to have my homes, cars, and all that one requires to work toward the so called "American Dream". The money borrowed from the rich allowed me to build 7 companies and sell them as working profitable companies. Of the 7 only 3 are still working 16 years later and from my profits gained on borrowed dimes I saved and sold out to take an early retirement. I've not worked a lick for any one but me for 17 years, the work I do now is largely just pocket change and always on my terms.

Those who curse the rich need to step back and think before they cripple the rich, old money, new money, it matters not, remove it from our system and no one will have a chance to succeed in our environment. The end, for now. You've done good, thanks, Dust

@billyaustindillon....that is what I am afraid of in November, Billy. Apathy put us where we are at the present and of course the liberals playing to the "entitlement sector". I suppose if that happens yet again, we deserve what we get. Might be a good time to find a new place to live! WB

Wayne you cover so much with this poem and the way the apathy, delusion and ostrich in the sand approach has got us in this hole - how much printing money tax credits etc go on until their is alight globe that says this isn't working? How many and how many people even seem to care?

@sheila b.....amen to that! We should have not ever let it get this bad but you know you can always count on the Republicans to forfeit even in a winning season. We will always have that flaw to contend with downstream. I guess we need a Capitalist Party! WB

@Springboard...You are correct. I think November is crucial to a turnaround. If Congress can be deadlocked then maybe things will remain in check until the 2012 elections. If not, the liberals will be crying that America has given them a "mandate"....not good! Thanks for the read and the comment! WB

@CornerStone51....Thanks you so much, Gayle. My frustration cup runeth over as I listen to the misinformation that Biden was spewing over the weekend. Also I Obama and company scurrying around to do all the things they can now to prop up the vote after all but ignoring most of America for these first two years. I am really hot now that I hear talk of another stimulus package after they basically "stole" all the money in the first one...this is insanity and it has to stop! Thanks for the read and the good words! WB

Spot on. The entire administration is all smoke and mirrors. No facts to back up the rhetoric. Just a lot of "take my word for it." What a load of bull. If November isn't the first sign of a turnaround of American sensibility, perhaps a stint in Canada is in order? :)

      Excellent hub.

Look for massive voter fraud ths November...They saw it worked to get that idiot Franken elected in Minnesota...and where is the outrage at certain states unable to provide ballots for the military..? @ladyjane1...I think there is still time but Congress must be either moved to gridlock or shift conservative in November. Otherwise, the door may close rapidly.

Some folks don't believe that but if we stay on this road, they are going to be pleasantly surprised to find themselves living in a socialist country and wondering how they got there. Hey Wayne, this was good, so hit home with today's really big mess (what an understatement). If half the country were still native Americans, they'd have taken several scalps by now, and seen to it that the King had no clothes!!! For Evermore......harked the Raven.......something like that :).

It occurs to me that it would be interesting to compare historically, truly historical, not the hype from some sources, data on the life style of the American Indian, and compare it to these socialistic ideals of today's idiots. What would they think about striving to shoot more buffalo, or staking and protecting and holding their water claim or land claim, or so much more. Would it be Socialistic -- or would it be Grasroots Capitalism?

Wayne - Here's my addendum to your excellent poetic statement:

If we sit on our butts and do nothing to remember,

We can expect more of the same this coming November.

If you want to make a difference, use all of your clout

And when you go to the polls throw all the Democrats out!
