awordlover's Book Cover
I am pleased (THRILLED) to announce that my short story "Not Quite Cricket" which I published here on hubpages.com in December 2011, has been chosen for an anthology collection. I have removed it from my Hubs due to contractual obligations with the publisher. It is available in e-book and paperback copies beginning Sunday, March 10, 2013.
UPDATE: 1/20/2014 -by Rachael O'Halloran
awordlover's publisher, Novelty Fiction, is re-releasing her ebooks for free and paper copies will still be available to order for $8.50. This book was originally pulled from lulu.com because of author death. Now that all the proper paperwork has been furnished to the publisher, the book is available again for downloading and paperback orders.
Here's the web address with the word "slashes" where a / should be.
Anne DiGeorge's name is not in the web address for reasons which should be obvious if you are a follower or reader of her hubs.

My Publishing Experience by awordlover
This was quite a learning experience since I have never been published in an anthology before. Morten Rand at Novelty Fiction was never tiring in answering my questions. Novelty Fiction is an independent publisher of books, e-books, audiobooks, and magazines, specializing in literary fiction.
When you are new to a certain part of the publishing world, being published in an anthology is not the same as being published in a stand alone book where you have an editor who helps you on your copy, or have an agent who shops your book to publishers for you. The pay scale is quite different too.
You retain your rights to the work, however your work is also part of another overall copyright because it is being featured with other authors.
In this case, the book was presented as an e-book first, then in paperback which is printed on demand.
This means that when you order the book, the printer doesn't print just your copy. They will wait until they have a good run and print those copies all at one time, usually within two to three weeks.
On demand printing is cost effective to keep overhead low, but it does nothing to get your book on bookshelves.
This particular anthology is listed as Book Club Edition, which means it will not be marketed to mainstream and big name book stores. There is usually no price on the book cover. Some people say book club editions are made cheaply, although I am very pleased with the quality of my product.
Name Recognition - advice by awordlover
I don't profess to know how I got so lucky to be selected out of so many authors on Hubpages, but I consider myself very fortunate to have my short story chosen for this anthology, A Touch of Mystique, which contains 6 short stories.
The authors in the anthology are Roman Trend, Rosalie Montgomery, Peter R Harris, Adrian Lavelle, Zehra Ali, and Anne DiGeorge (me!)
The name of the publisher is Novelty Fiction (hubber) who first saw my short story here on HubPages.
I do try to comment on many hubs, especially short stories, which I enjoy reading and writing. I also try to participate in various forums.
I think the more you get your name in comments and forums, the more your hubs will be viewed, you will get name recognition and who knows? Possibly a published book!
I participated in the forum Fiction Writer - Please Introduce Yourselves which is where many writers get name exposure, ideas and good information on the process.

Final word by awordlover
Note: Hubpages won't let me put the links in to the website, which would make this hub 'overly promotional.' I totally understand that.
Go to lulu.com, click bookstore, enter title A Touch of Mystique.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to take a look at my work. ::smile::
